Christina Applegate revealed her starring role on “Dead to Me” could be her last acting job due to her intense battle with multiple sclerosis.
“Jen Harding is the one, who — who knows, quite possibly the last one I’ll play,” the “Married … with Children” alum, 50, told Variety this week.
“With my disease, I don’t know how capable I am. But this was a gift. This was a gift to me.”
Applegate, who was diagnosed with MS in early 2021, said being on set for her Netflix show helped her learn what she was going to be “capable of doing.”
“It had to be cold, because heat is our kryptonite,” she said of one of her struggles. “Can’t work those 18-hour days, you know? It was impossible.”
However, Applegate said her show-runner, Liz Feldman, and the rest of the cast and crew were “so loving” throughout filming.

“I am heartbroken but I am grateful for all the…
“If I called them in the morning, and was like, ‘Guys, I can’t get down the stairs,’ they were like, ‘OK! We won’t do today. We’ll do other stuff,’” the “Sweetest Thing” star shared.
“Netflix even let us take a break for a couple of months so that I could mourn, and find treatment.”
Although Applegate may step away from being in front of the camera, she is open to transitioning into other jobs in Hollywood.
“I’d like to develop stuff, I’d like to produce stuff,” the “Bad Moms” star said. “I’ve got a lot of ideas in my mind, and I just need to get them executed.
Applegate first opened up about her health issues in August 2021, announcing on Twitter that it had been a “strange journey” but that she had been “so supported.”
“It’s been a tough road,” she added at the time. “But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some a–hole blocks it.”
Earlier this month, Applegate came forward about some of the complications she’s experienced as a result of her MS, including gaining 40 pounds.
“I can’t walk without a cane,” the “Anchorman” star told the New York Times. “I want people to know that I am very aware of all of that.”
She then admitted, “I’m never going to accept this. I’m pissed.”
