A vision of a time of the past, through the eyes of an ancestor, shows Tanjiro a message he needs to hear in episode 2 of Demon Slayer season 3, titled “Someone’s Dream.”
Recovering from a battle that nearly took their lives, Tanjiro manages to wake up from his coma after many days. Immediately showered with affection from everyone surrounding him, he quickly recovers and sets out to the Swordsmith Village.
In a remote town whose location is not disclosed to anyone, Tanjiro finds himself meeting with Mitsuri and receiving a cryptic hint of a secret weapon within the town and sets out to find it and boost his strength. However, he finds something else much more mysterious instead.
As the mysterious man from the dream shows up with Muichiro, the plot thickens much more as many questions open about his true identity. The dream in itself was a very confusing sequence of events, but it will likely hold a significant plot point in the story.
He is likely an ally that is related to Tanjiro’s father in some way due to his earrings that were the same passed down in his family. It could even be a direct bloodline relative, likely leading to Tanjiro mastering Sun breathing.
Another possibility, although far-fetched, is his connection to the Upper-Rank One, who holds similar characteristics when viewed from behind but has the same attire as well as hair. However, this individual has the same scars as Tanjiro and his father, so the connection is undeniable.
The next episode will confront these theories and provide us with more evidence to go on, as well as his connection with Muichiro and the Kamado family, a link that has never been hinted at before and is entirely out of the blue, yet plausible.

3. Recap of Episode 1:
The aftermath of the battle finds Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu with grievous injuries, near unconsciousness, as they group around Nezuko. Meanwhile, the destiny surrounding our demon slayers has been changed with the end of this battle; without a doubt, Muzan will be defeated by this generation.
Meanwhile, in his realm, Akaza, the Third Upper, stands in the Infinity Castle, summoned by Muzan. He quickly deduces that this summoning could only mean one thing, the death of an Upper Rank, and lets himself be taken through the dimension to where the owner pleases.
A reunion with Gyokko, the Upper Five, irks his mood, and some other Upper Ranks soon show themselves beside Upper One. In the Upper Two, Doma puts a hand on Akaza’s shoulder in a joyful tone as he taunts his apparent death but is quickly swatted away.
Immediately regenerating, the fight is broken up by the announcement by the Biwa woman that the Upper One has been waiting all this time, listening. However, it is revealed he was not the only one concealed as Muzan appears, announcing the death of Gyutaro.
Daki had brought him down, leading to his predicted death. Muzan announces his disappointment, holding no expectations for his underlings anymore. He becomes even more triggered by the fact that Ubuyashiki continues living even after his order to exterminate the entire family.
An Upper Rank has been killed for the first time in 113 years, and the time has come to make some changes. Doma tries to ease the information out of Gyokko, but Akaza slices his head off for disrupting the hierarchy, which he does too by attacking a higher-up.
Kokushibo, the Upper-Rank one, interferes with the fight and announces his dismay at Akaza, who pledges to kill him if it’s the last thing he does. Doma is sent back to where he was, back in the hospital; Tanjiro begins dreaming of a mysterious man who saves the Kamado family of the past and walks out without even saying his name.
He wakes up from his slumber and is quickly met with refreshments from Goto, a Kakushi from the cleanup crew who was also the first to find the group after the battle. He also begins cleaning up the mess Kanao made and gives Tanjiro some premium Castella, and announces his awakening.
Tanjiro is quickly surrounded by all his friends as they sob at his bedside, glad he’s finally woken back up. Everyone in the battle has taken injuries seemingly beyond recovery, but Tengen merely walks it off, and Inosuke has already recovered and reached Tanjiro’s ceiling.
Inosuke, although clad in boar armor, has all the characteristics of a honey badger, an incredibly poison-proof and durable animal that could resist a lion’s bite and recover from injuries at incredible speeds. As the discussion escalates, Tanjiro slips back into sleep.
As the group recovers, each takes on their challenges to return to prime form. Tanjiro is still yet to get a new sword after chipping his current one, and Haganezuka refuses to replace any more. His only solution is to go directly to the swordsmith’s village and prepares for the journey.
Stuffed with a nose, ear plugs, and a blindfold, he is transported back between multiple Kakushi to the hidden village where even the Kakushi don’t precisely know where it lies. He reaches the place by sunset and approaches the chief’s home before sightseeing around the town.
Tecchin Tecchikawahara extends his greetings as the village chief as Tanjiro bows his head to the floor and asks about Haganezuka, who remains missing from the village, especially when he loses his temper. He suggests that he visit the hot springs in order to relax his body and quickly recover.
Mitsuri ran down the stairs screaming that someone had ignored her even though she was so lovely. Tanjiro cheers her up, goes up into the hot springs for a quick soak, and returns later to have dinner with Mitsuri as she bonds with Nezuko.
They walk around searching for Genya but don’t find him in his room, and Mitsuri and Tanjiro part ways as she expresses how lucky he was to fight an Upper Rank and survive and even gives him a secret hint of something hidden in the village that will make him stronger before leaving.
Nezuko and Tanjiro walk out into the forest, searching for the secret weapon, but his sense of smell is hindered by the smell of the hot springs. He runs into Muicihiro in a commotion with someone else, and behind them stands none other than the person from Tanjiro’s dream.
