The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone has turned up in a leaked CAD render, seemingly confirming the shape it’s going to take. It has been rumored that the Galaxy S23 Ultra won’t be much different in design to the Galaxy S22 Ultra; however, it seems there will at least be a flatter display to be enjoyed.
A supposed CAD render of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has surfaced on the Chinese social media site Weibo. Posted by an account that is machine-translated as “Love the Planet”, the drawing simply shows an unnamed smartphone-like device mostly from the side, with part of what would presumably be the display also revealed. The image (see below) was later shared by the well-known leaker Ice universe, who simply stated “S23U” with an “insidious” emoji in the post.
With the tipster declaring that the CAD render is of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the image actually seems to reinforce his constant claims that the Samsung flagship would be losing some of the curve that was borne by the Galaxy S22 Ultra. It’s clear to see just how flat the display is here, with the previously curved edge being considerably reduced to offer a much sharper and flatter design for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.
In addition, the rounded corners have also apparently been squared off during the design transition from Galaxy S22 Ultra to Galaxy S23 Ultra, something which Ice universe has previously mentioned. Although it’s difficult to discern it from a CAD drawing, there’s the impression that the middle part of the frame is thicker, beyond what has already been created by the flattening reduction of the display. This extra room could allow for an improved cooling system and rumored Galaxy S23 Ultra features such as the 3D Sonic Max fingerprint reader.
