IHG Hotels & Resorts continues to evolve its luxury presence in Germany as they sign Alte Post in Reit im Winkl, a market debut for Vignette Collection, the company’s newest luxury brand.
Alte Post Vignette Collection is set to open in 2026 under a franchise agreement with Odyssey Hotel Group. The hotel will be developed by DAIxKo Group in a joint venture between Derichs and Konertz project development and Aixact real estate in a lease brokered by Hotel Affairs Consulting GmbH.
The hotel will be designed by the architect company blocher partners of Stuttgart and will feature 150 bedrooms, two restaurants, including one for fine dining, plus a bar, underground parking and a wellness area with fitness studios, saunas and a swimming pool. Sustainability will continue to be at the heart of the property’s design.
Reit im Winkl is a well-known and popular village located on the German/Austrian border in southeast Bavaria, a popular tourist region in Germany.
We are thrilled to introduce Vignette Collection to the German market. The global success of the brand in its first year, with 14 hotels signed or opened, speaks volumes to its emphasis on delivering one-of-a-kind stays and memorable moments alongside a commitment to more responsible travel. Our growth in Germany has been especially strong in recent years and adding Vignette Collection to the pipeline is an exciting development in our luxury growth strategy.
Willemijn Geels, Vice President of Development for Europe, at IHG Hotels and Resorts
IHG’s luxury presence in Germany has continued to grow in recent years with four of their luxury brands – InterContinental, Regent, Kimpton and now Vignette Collection – now represented with open or signed hotels in the market.
Furthermore, IHG will further bolster its luxury offering by bringing the global boutique luxury hotel brand Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants to Germany in 2025 with the opening of Kimpton Frankfurt. The hotel will feature 155 rooms, two large meeting rooms, an onsite gym, a signature restaurant, and there are also plans for a sky-bar and restaurant on the roof terrace.
