An industry analyst has said the iPhone 15 Pro Max (or iPhone 15 Ultra) could launch 3-4 weeks after the iPhone 15 Pro and non-Pro models. The delay is due to Sony being unable to deliver the smartphone’s periscope telephoto lens on time.
Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Max (or iPhone 15 Ultra) is rumoured to bring a wealth of upgrades, including the blazing-fast 3 nm A17 Bionic SoC, a titanium frame, improved cameras and support for up to 35 Watt fast charging via a USB-C port. However, those looking to get their hands on the top-of-the-line iPhone model may have to wait for a while if a new report from 9to5Mac is accurate.
The publication has learned from an industry analyst that Sony will need more time to deliver its 6x periscope camera sensor (exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max). Hence, the smartphone will be available for purchase on October 6 at the earliest. Ideally, this should not affect overall iPhone 15 sales significantly, as die-hard fans and enthusiasts will have no qualms about waiting a few extra days for Apple’s flagship offering.
However, what could affect sales (the iPhone 15 Pro Max in particular), is its prohibitively high price. Earlier rumours said its maxed-out version with 1 TB of storage could cost as much as US$1,800. A sketchy report from earlier took that a step further, stating the smartphone would launch with a 2 TB variant, which will cost an eye-watering US$2,000.
