Mary J. Blige is set to executive produce two Lifetime movies based on her hit songs “Real Love” and “Strength of a Woman” under her production company, Blue Butterfly. The two new series are set to premiere on Saturdays, beginning June 10th at 8 pm.
Both films will feature BMF star Da’Vinchi and Ajiona Alexus as the lead actors, portraying a couple navigating the complexities of young Black love. The R&B icon will also provide the films’ musical scores, as well as have an appearance in both movies.
This isn’t Blige’s first time venturing into the world of film. She recently debuted on the hit TV series Power Book II: Ghost and is part of 50 Cent’s, “50-Verse” as a recurring character as Monét. Additionally, she started her show The Wine Down on BET, where she interviews celebrity guests while sipping on wine.
Blige has been expanding her creative endeavors beyond music in recent years, showcasing her talent as an actress and producer. Along with her television work, she recently went on her “Good Morning Gorgeous” tour, which featured a mix of music and twerking.
