The proposed Sherburn 42 industrial complex near Leeds
McLaren has secured a deal to build an industrial complex.
The contractor was appointed by developer Firethorn Trust to deliver 60,000 square metres of logistical space across four warehouses located between Leeds and Selby.
The Sherburn 42 development, which will be set across 15 hectares next to Sherburn Enterprise Park, received planning consent in October.
Firethorn said the project was targeting a BREEAM Excellent rating and would feature translucent roof panelling, LED lighting and provision for renewable-power generation.
McLaren will start on site immediately with the aim of completing works before the end of next year. The value of the project has not been disclosed.
Paul Martin, development director at Firethorn, said: “We pride ourselves in creating industry-leading schemes for occupiers while effectively responding to evolving market demands.
“Not only does McLaren have the expert capability to bring Sherburn 42 forward at pace, the team has demonstrated a shared commitment to quality, sustainability and innovation.”
Gary Cramp, managing director of McLaren Construction Midlands and North, said the contractor was “very pleased” to be appointed to the “significant” development.
“Providing fantastic opportunities for the region’s workforce, the four high-quality Grade-A industrial units will create an attractive, fit-for-purpose, sustainable workspace for multinational distributors and ambitious small and medium-sized enterprises,” he added.
“We look forward to building a long-lasting relationship with Firethorn, and working closely to deliver this landmark project.”
