Valve has announced that its successful hand-held console is to become available in select Asian markets. The company will release the Steam Deck through the same distributor in Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. The device can be ordered in multiple storage variants from mid-December 2022.
The Steam Deck has been at the forefront of the handheld gaming device trend since its launch. However, it has only been available in Europe and North America thus far. Now, however, more regions have been added to that list.
Consumers in Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan will be able to order their own Steam Deck through an official channel soon. Valve has announced that it has partnered with Komodo for this purpose; then again, they have reverted to a reservation-based system for this release for now.
On the other hand, the new order page offers the full gamut of Steam Deck storage options, from the entry-level 64GB eMMC variant to the 512GB SSD top-end SKUs. They seem to be priced vaguely similarly to those in other regions; for example, those in Japan run from 59,800 to 99,800 yen (~US$442 to 737).
The Steam Deck is slated to start shipping in its new markets from December 17, 2022. Those who reserve a unit can avail of free shipping until then.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
