Vivo is reportedly working on a successor to its first-gen Android tablet. The “Pad2” is now believed to come with upgrades such as a display with the highest refresh rate for its class, not to mention a high-end MediaTek Dimensity tablet. It may also challenge its putative OPPO rival with an increased focus on camera specs and a more competitive starting price.
Vivo is all set to launch the X Fold2 as its latest flagship device; however, for those who would prefer a more conventional tablet experience, there will also allegedly be a second-gen Pad in 2023. However, there are OPPO Pad 2 owners out there that might find the comparisons between their new device and the allegedly upcoming slate too close to even be funny.
According to the typically reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, the “Vivo Pad2” is now indeed slated to launch with a “144Hz LCD high-resolution” display, driven by the also familiar-sounding Dimensity 9000 SoC. With a round camera hump in 1 corner, the tablet even allegedly looks like a reconstructed OnePlus Pad.
Then again, the same new module also seems to be more Vivo-like, in that it has seems to have multiple lenses as opposed to the Pad 2’s single shooter. Nevertheless, Digital Chat Station believes that the former will go for 2,499 yuan (~US$364) at the most for an 8GB RAM base model – cheaper than the putative OPPO version, although the real-life tablet does ship with a minimum of 256GB of internal storage, whereas the Vivo Pad2 might start at 128GB.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
