In his recent video about the Intel Arrow Lake and refreshed Raptor Lake CPUs, Tom from Moore’s Law Is Dead also revealed details regarding the Intel Meteor Lake processors. Per the leaker, Team Blue could release the Meteor Lake CPUs by October 2023 with the 14-core notebook MTL allegedly being the first SKU to hit the market.

Intel’s 14th gen Meteor Lake CPUs are expected to break cover in Q4 of this year. However, leaks regarding the desktop Meteor Lake-S (MTL-S) processors have been quite pessimistic. For instance, we reported late last month that Intel might have canceled the MTL-S for desktops altogether and the MTL-S product could launch as a mobile MTL-P chip.

According to Moore’s Law Is Dead, the alleged cancelation of MTL-S could be true. One OEM source exclaimed that the OEM only has the Raptor Lake Refresh on its 12-month desktop roadmap.

Moving on, another MLID source attempted to strike down rumors of Meteor Lake’s Redwood Cove P-cores having constrained clock speeds by mentioning that MTL “should boost well past 4 GHz”.

Regarding the launch time frame, MLID reports that the 14-core (6 P + 8 E-core) MTL laptop SKU could be getting a “paper launch” by October while actual volume will hit the market in December/January 2024. Additionally, a separate 10-core (2 P + 8 E-core) config will reportedly launch at the same time.

Finally, per one of MLID’s sources, while Team Blue did admit that “a new generation would come to desktop this fall with better multi-threading”, Intel didn’t specify any tag. Essentially, we don’t know whether Intel will use the “14th gen” tag for the purportedly doomed MTL-S or the Raptor Lake Refresh that is rumored to be coming later this year.

As always, you should always take rumors regarding CPUs/CPU architectures that are months away from launching with a healthy dose of skepticism.
