Elland Road: Man arrested after Leeds United close stadium following ‘security threat’

Elland Road

A man has been arrested after Leeds United closed their Elland Road stadium “following reports of a security threat to the premises”.

Leeds were forced to send staff home and close the club offices, ticket office, foundation offices and club shop “on the advice of the police”.

West Yorkshire Police arrested a 20-year-old man “in connection with the incident and enquiries remain ongoing”.

It is thought the closure was due to a threat posted on social media.

“Police were called to attend at Elland Road football stadium following reports of a security threat to the premises,” said an earlier West Yorkshire Police statement.

They added they were alerted shortly before 22:00 GMT on Thursday.
