The most important thing to understand is that the full cost of the phone is spread out as 36 monthly bill credits. That means you need to continue to use Verizon as your carrier for 36 months in order to fully pay off the phone. Or, you may be able to trade in your phone early so you can upgrade to a new Verizon phone. In that case, you would start the 36-month cycle over again.
Once you’ve gone for 36 months and you have received all your bill credits, the phone will be fully paid off. If you want to switch to another carrier before your 36-month contract is up, however, you’ll have to pay off any remaining balance on your smartphone.
