Surprisingly, the Quest 3 is nowhere near release. Instead, Meta will provide more details at Meta Connect on September 27. In the meantime, Meta has confirmed that the Quest 3 will start at US$499 with 128 GB of storage; a larger storage option will also be available.
Meta has not outlined why it chose to unveil the Quest 3 today, although Apple is expected to present its first VR headset next week at WWDC 2023. While the pair will not be direct competitors, Apple’s effort is rumoured to cost US$3,000, it seems that Meta is getting out ahead of what could soon be its main VR rival.
