A major UK retailer has listed the Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds on its support website. Arriving before any official announcements about the earbuds’ release, the listing confirms earlier leaks that detailed design changes from the current WF-1000XM4.
The Sony WF-1000XM5 may not have received an official release yet, but UK retailer Argos has listed the earbuds on its support website. Shown below, the listing confirms the earbuds’ design, which features a few tweaks from the WF-1000XM4. As we have discussed previously, the WF-1000XM5 is rumoured to be lighter than its predecessor while offering larger drivers and comparable battery life.
The Argos Support listing also provides a purchase link, although the URL redirects to an error page for now. It seems that the purchase link has not been posted ahead of schedule either; neither Google nor the Web Archive have cached the URL so far. Argos UK has form for listing products before their official release, as was the case with the DJI Mini 3 Pro.
In any case, the appearance of the WF-1000XM5 on Argos’ website implies that Sony is close to launching the earbuds. Typically, Sony teases product releases a few days ahead of schedule, with there being roughly a week gap for the WF-1000XM4 and WH-1000XM5. Hence, it seems unlikely that the WF-1000XM5 will debut before July, unless Sony releases a teaser within the next day or two.
