Shenzhen Xunlong Software has released the Orange Pi Zero 3, a compact SBC that should be more powerful than the outgoing Orange Pi Zero 2. The new single-board computer starts at under US$15 and can be configured with up to 4 GB of RAM.
Shenzhen Xunlong Software has released the Orange Pi Zero 3, a 55 x 50 mm single-board computer (SBC) that succeeds its three-year-old predecessor. As Liliputing notes, the Orange Pi Zero 3 resembles the Orange Pi Zero 2, with 26-pin and 13-pin headers spanning the top and bottom of the device, respectively. Likewise, the former has the following ports:
- 1x Gigabit Ethernet
- 1x Micro HDMI
- 1x MicroSD card slot
- 1x USB Type-C
- 1x USB 2.0 Type-A
However, Shenzhen Xunlong Software has swapped the Allwinner H616 for an Allwinner H618, a quad-core (ARM Cortex-A53) processor. Additionally, the Allwinnner H618 has an ARM Mali-G31 MP2 GPU and 1 MB L2 cache. Moreover, the Orange Pi Zero 3 supports up to 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and has 16 MB SPI flash, compared to up to 1 GB of DDR3 RAM and 2 MB SPI flash with the Orange Pi Zero 2.
The switch in chipset allows the Orange Pi Zero 3 to support newer OS distributions too, such as Android 12 for TV, Debian 11/12 and Ubuntu 20.04/22.04.
