After a big offseason for the New York Jets, anything short of a Super Bowl this season will be considered a disappointment. You don’t grab 39-year-old Aaron Rodgers for a mere playoff appearance.
Now, I’ve long held the opinion that they’ll fall short of that goal. But after seeing what mentalist Oz Pearlman pulled off in the second episode of HBO’s Hard Knocks, I might have to re-consider that stance and throw a little money on a Super Bowl between the Jets and San Francisco 49ers.
You might too after seeing this.
Performing for an auditorium of Jets players, Pearlman had wide receiver Mecole Hardman come to the front and give a Super Bowl prediction. Hardman, obviously, picked the Jets to beat the 49ers 31-21, but here’s the thing, Pearlman had that exact matchup and score already written on the back of a giant puzzle board at the front of the room.

Look, I’m not a magician or mentalist. I don’t know exactly how this works without Hardman being in on the gag. But if he was a part of it, you would have a hard time knowing by his stunned reaction. He also wasn’t the only Jets player Pearlman used as part of his act.
Check out this wild card trick he did with Aaron Rodgers.

Pearlman is good at this!
And a Jets-Niners Super Bowl isn’t all that farfetched. San Francisco has the second-best odds (+400) to win the NFC at FanDuel and New York is fifth in the AFC (+1000).
