AYN Technologies has revealed new details about the AYN Odin2, the company’s next gaming handheld. Supposedly, the company intends to launch the Odin2 for US$299 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, currently one of Qualcomm’s most powerful mobile chipsets.

AYN Technologies has now confirmed which Snapdragon chipset will power the Odin2, the company’s next gaming handheld. To recap, Odin2 teasers started nearly three weeks ago, with AYN Technologies sharing a short YouTube video at the start of August. Subsequently, it confirmed that the gaming handheld would be available with several memory configurations and five colour options, an overview of the latter we have embedded below.

According to our database, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 averages 2.4x the performance of the Snapdragon 845, in part because of a narrower manufacturing process, faster CPU cores and a superior GPU. Currently, AYN Technologies claims that the Odin2 will start at US$299, which would make it one of the cheapest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered devices around. Full release details remain unknown for now, although we imagine that the company will offer up a few more teasers before launching the gaming handheld on Indiegogo.
