A complicated history. Teresa Giudice‘s daughters were once close to their uncle Joe Gorga and his wife, Melissa Gorga, but the siblings’ ongoing feud has seemingly caused tension among the younger generation.
Viewers of The Real Housewives of New Jersey first caught a glimpse of the way Teresa and Joe’s bickering affected the children back in season 3, which aired in 2011. In one now-famous episode, Teresa’s eldest daughter, Gia, sang a song about her mom’s feud with Joe during a birthday party for Milania.
The Turning the Tables author shares Gia (born in 2001), Gabriella (born in 2004), Milania (born in 2006) and Audriana (born in 2009) with ex-husband Joe Giudice, whom she divorced in 2020. Melissa and Joe, meanwhile, are the parents of daughter Antonia (born in 2005) and sons Gino (born in 2007) and Joey (born in 2010).
“Gia’s hurting. She knows what’s going on,” Joe Gorga said in a confessional interview after Gia sang “Waking Up in the Morning,” which has since become a TikTok meme. “She’s hurting the way I’m hurting. And hopefully, this can wake everybody up.”
Melissa, for her part, said she was “brokenhearted” after watching her niece break down in tears while performing. “It was the saddest thing,” the Love Italian Style author told the cameras. “First of all, she shouldn’t even know too much about the whole situation. And if she does know too much, she definitely shouldn’t be sitting home and writing songs about it.”
While Teresa and the Gorgas have smoothed things over several times in the past, their 2022 feud may be the one that ends their relationship for good. The trouble began when Melissa revealed in March 2022 that her sister-in-law hadn’t asked her to be a bridesmaid in her then-upcoming wedding to Luis “Louie” Ruelas.
“Is it, like, a no-fam wedding other than the four daughters, her four beautiful daughters, and like a couple of her friends? I think if that’s the case then that makes perfect sense,” the “Rockstar” songstress said during an episode of her “On Display” podcast at the time. “I mean, if she’s having Louie’s sisters then I guess that makes perfect sense for Teresa.”
When the wedding rolled around in August 2022, however, tensions had escalated thanks to a behind-the-scenes fight filmed for season 13 of RHONJ — and the Gorgas ultimately didn’t attend the ceremony.
“From day one with all the wedding drama, I was told on national TV I wasn’t gonna be a part of it,” Melissa exclusively told Us Weekly in October 2022. “I was told we are not close. I was told all of these things. So, when you draw the line in the sand, well then, I have to stand behind the line. And then don’t be upset when we’re behind the line because you drew it.”
That same month, Gia revealed that the drama had diminished her relationship with her Zio Joe. “I texted him for his birthday,” the influencer told Us, adding that they chat “for, like, respect” on holidays.

During season 12 of RHONJ in early 2022, Gia confronted her uncle about “disrespectful” comments he’d made about her father, who was deported to his native Italy in 2019 following his conviction for fraud. “She looks at me like I’m the devil,” Joe Gorga told the cameras in a confessional interview after the discussion. “Their father is the devil, not me!”
After the episode aired, Gia shared her side of the story during an episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. “I kind of just stayed calm, because if I reacted, it wouldn’t have done much,” the Rutgers University student explained. “I was a little surprised by the way he reacted toward me and how defensive he was, because bottom line, he is [talking about] my father. So have a little respect.”
Melissa later told Andy Cohen that she didn’t think her husband needed to apologize to Gia for his comments during a game of “Should! They! Apologize!?” on WWHL.
During a May 2022 episode of the “On Display” podcast, Melissa and Joe Gorga claimed that Teresa and Joe Giudice owed them gratitude for the way they helped the family after the Giudices’ 2014 conviction for fraud. “How about, ‘Thank you?’” the Gorga Guide to Success author asked. “Because when [Teresa] was in prison, Joe [Giudice] wasn’t working at all either. So, they had no income. If we weren’t on the show, their kids would not still be living in that house and have food and have whatever they had.”
Melissa went on to claim that Teresa’s spinoff series, Teresa Checks In, wouldn’t have happened without the Gorgas. “Joe needed to make money on that show and he needed someone to film with and here we were that jumped in,” she said. “That ‘Teresa went to prison’ show was able to be made because they had us to bounce off of and had someone to talk to on it.”
As the feud between Joe Gorga and Teresa heated up over the wedding drama, Gia exclusively told Us that she was trying to stay out of it. “I’m just also trying to be the bigger person,” she said at BravoCon in October 2022, adding that there was “not really” much communication between her and her uncle.
During a December 2022 episode of her “On Display” podcast, Melissa said that her own daughter wasn’t bothered by the tense situation between the Gorgas and the Giudices. “It’s so crazy that she is such a drama-free — like, she almost giggles at drama, like, laughs at me,” Melissa explained. “She’ll laugh at me and she’ll be like, ‘Oh, Mom, please.’ Like, she’s unfazed by the fact that even her cousins unfollowed her parents on Instagram. She just is like, ‘You know what, Mom? Not your problem, theirs.’”
Gia slammed her uncle after he shared an Instagram video of himself running into Joe Giudice during a vacation in the Bahamas. “This is honestly comical knowing you were with him for not even 5 minutes and [were] able to have somebody take a video of the interaction meanwhile all you have done is talked so poorly about my father,” she wrote in the comments section of the clip. “You are such a opportunist to take advantage of the once in a lifetime opportunity to see my father and use it for a post.”
Joe Gorga responded to his niece’s accusation by saying that it was all love between him and Joe Giudice during the impromptu meeting. “We both said horrible things about each other,” the comedian wrote. “It was a nice moment. We have a lot of history. Get the hate out of your heart.”
During a February 2023 episode of RHONJ, Gabriella slammed her uncle’s “hurtful” claims that he and Melissa deserved a “thank you” for their actions during her parents’ prison stints. “Especially when it’s not true,” Gabriella added. “Credit shouldn’t be given where it’s not earned. That affects me directly, so it’s something that I take to heart.”
Gia, for her part, claimed that the kids actually didn’t see the Gorgas often during that period. “The only times we really saw them was when we were on camera together,” she said in a confessional interview. “I really can’t remember any other time when I saw them.”
After Gabriella and Gia discussed the drama on RHONJ, Melissa slammed her sister-in-law for bringing the kids into it during an appearance on WWHL. “I think it’s super selfish when any mother brings a child into a conversation like this,” Melissa said, referring specifically to Gabriella’s comments. “I’m sorry, like, it’s a selfish thing to have them comment on it. She’s my godchild.”
“It’s just sad, because I truly love the girls deep down inside and I know they have hate for us,” Melissa claimed during a February 2023 episode of RHONJ. “I know they do. It’s terrible. I wouldn’t wish this on anybody.”
“If [Joe] doesn’t come to your wedding, it’s wrapped, it’s over with,” Milania said in a teaser for a March 2023 episode of RHONJ. “Never speaking to you ever again.”
During a March 2023 episode of RHONJ, Teresa claimed that she’s never been to her brother’s beach house — and neither have her daughters. “Gia asked to stay there once, and Melissa said no,” the Standing Strong author alleged. “I wanna be around people that love us.”

No Longer Following
“It was just weird. One day, I guess, somebody told me she posted something about me, so I went to go look, and I was like, ‘I’m blocked on everything,’ so I’m blocked from everything from her,” Gia alleged on a May 2023 episode of her mother’s “Namaste B$tches” podcast.
Melissa, for her part, has not addressed the claims.
