The Accor Group’s newest brand continues to expand, opening two new boutique hotels in France: Les Capitouls Toulouse Centre and Le Splendid Hotel Lac d’Annecy.
Inaugurated in 2023 with the opening of the Saint Gervais Hotel & Spa, the brand of 4-star boutique hotels already boasts four hotels: the Wonil Hotel Perth – Handwritten Collection and the Hotel Morris Sydney – Handwritten Collection in Australia, and the Hotel Shanghai Sheshan Oriental – Handwritten Collection, in China.
The Hotel Les Capitouls Toulouse Centre – Handwritten Collection joined the collection on May 23. This 55-room former mansion is located in the historic center of Toulouse. The interior was designed by French designer Thierry D’Istria and features a hushed decor with English accents, all set in a musical atmosphere typical of 80s Manchester, influenced by the post-punk movement and indie rock. The hotel also features a bar, “Le Wilson”.
The Splendid Hotel Lac d’Annecy – Handwritten Collection opened its doors on May 3, 2023, right in the heart of Annecy. Also designed by Thierry D’Istria, the 67-room hotel features 50s-style architecture and Art Deco decorations, the owner’s personal touch. The hotel has an all-day bar and offers breakfast featuring local produce. There’s also a sauna and fitness room.
The Handwritten collection was created to help independent hotel owners boost their international visibility and attract a wider audience, while retaining the identity of their hotel. Indeed, the collection enables hosts to welcome guests “home” by personalizing the hotel in their own image for an even warmer experience.
The brand may be young, but it is expanding rapidly across Europe, and is set to exceed 250 hotels by 2030: several openings are planned in the coming months, with the addition of various establishments: The Oru Hub Hotel, Handwritten Collection, in Tallinn (Estonia), the Square Lodge Hotel, Handwritten Collection, in La Roche-sur-Yon (France), the Sunrise Premium Resort, Handwritten Collection, in Hoi An (Vietnam), the Paris Montmartre Sacré Cœur, in Paris (France), the Hotel Relais San Martino, Handwritten Collection in Italy, not to mention establishments in Bucharest and Madrid.
