Indianapolis 500 streaming: Lagging, ‘laps of commercials’ annoy fans

play

Endless commercials, television blackouts, and to top it off, NBC Peacock’s live streaming feed of the Indianapolis 500 has more lagging issues than the battery in Graham Rahal’s race car.

Racing fans took to Twitter to sound off about NBC’s handling of coverage during the “greatest spectacle in racing.”

Shocker. It wasn’t pretty.

What people are saying about Indy 500 commercials and lagging

We now interrupt this 3 hour commercial marathon with a couple minutes of the #Indy500

— Neil Scheibelhut (@NegaSquatch) May 28, 2023

More commercials than racing. At least give Peacock a 2 box

— Travis Dorado (@Travisty_22) May 28, 2023

@peacock I would have loved to watch the #Indy500 but your absolutely terrible streaming app can’t keep up. Thanks

— Paul Pearcy (@Aces_Pompadour) May 28, 2023

Way too many commercials especially since I’m watching on Peacock that I pay for just for IndyCar.

There are more commercials than televised Indy 500 Racing 🏁🇺🇸🏁
😡😡😡

— Joel M. Rust (@JoelMRust) May 28, 2023

Trying to watch this on TV. Literally every 5 minutes there are 2-3 minutes of commercials. Some are split screen bigger than race and SO LOUD! This coverage sux!!!

There are more commercials than televised Indy 500 Racing 🏁🇺🇸🏁

I’m gang to record the rest of the race and watch later. So many commercials it’s unwatchable. #NBCFail

Usually the Indy 500 makes me long for my Indiana home, but nbc’s “Nothing But Commercials” coverage hasn’t shown enough of the race for me to miss it this year.

— Mallory Christine (@MCDoades) May 28, 2023

I wish. But because of your ridiculous blackout rules, I can’t. Even though over 325k tickets were sold.

— Michael Schlitt (@MikeySchlitt) May 28, 2023

NBC coverage of the Indy 500 is horrible! More commercials then race footage! Rediculous to say the least

— I69power (@I69power1) May 28, 2023

Trying to, but Peacock is laggy AF

— Leroy Grider (@LeroyGrider) May 28, 2023

And of course a preview of the newest Indiana Jones movie is far more important than #Indy500. You really do suck at covering racing @NBCSports. Time to turn the reins over to another network.

— DavidJeffersGroup (@FLADaveJ) May 28, 2023

I wull never understand- Why networks broadcast soccer matches commercial free ( except halftime) but not Racing? The amount of commercials circling the Indy 500 is beyond overkill.

— Blair (@CraftChat) May 28, 2023

The coverage of Indy has become equal to or worse than NASCAR with regards to the ridiculous number of commercials, most of which are saying “watch Indy”. Uh, we’re trying in between the endless breaks. Sided by side is worthless…
