Powkiddy is preparing to release a new compact gaming handheld. Thought to be the Max 3 Pro or the RGB10 Max 3 Pro, the device is expected to arrive with a 5-inch display and has a design reminiscent of the RGB10 Max.
Last month, Powkiddy introduced a new version of the RK2023, adding Wi-Fi connectivity and an all-black colourway. Subsequently, details about a different Powkiddy gaming handheld have surfaced online, seemingly stemming from Retro Handhelds and James Dewitz. For now, the device is thought of as the Max 3 Pro, although RetroDodo refers to it as the RGB10 Max 3 Pro after the RGB10 Max.
Supposedly, Powkiddy will use a 5-inch display, likely an IPS panel. Likewise, the Max 3 Pro and RGB10 Max have comparable controller buttons, such as stacked shoulder buttons, two analog sticks and a small d-pad. However, Powkiddy has positioned six small buttons beneath the display, split into three clusters for F1/F2, volume up/down and select/start.
The inclusion of these small buttons below the display while retaining a 5-inch display suggests that the Max 3 Pro will be slightly taller than the RGB10 Max. Unfortunately, other details are unknown at this stage, including a release date and availability. For reference, RetroDodo expects Powkiddy to equip the Max 3 Pro with a chipset about as powerful as the Unisoc Tiger T618, which it offers in the Powkiddy X28. Presumably, Powkiddy will provide more details as we enter the summer.
